Taper bushes provide a low cost, simple, quick method of securing sprocket, pulleys and couplings to a wide range of standard metric and imperial dimensioned shafts of general commercial tolerances and finish. The taper surfaces on the bush and mating hub are driven together by high tensile screws, causing the split bush to be firmly contracted onto the shaft. The strong clamping force which can be achieved enables transmission of high torque without the problems of fretting associated with simple key seated drives.
Every bush can be supplied with different bore size – either in metric series (mm) or in inches- according to customer‘s requirement. Moreover, every bore has a keyway according to UNI 6604 - DIN 6885 - B.S.46:part.1:1958 regulations. Bushes are made in cast iron EN-GJL-250 UNI EN 1561. If a taper lock sprocket not included in the range of standard is required, a welded hub can be used. The required type of bush depends on the dimension of the welded hub and it is included in the following range:
• Over 500 metric and imperial bore sizes
• Manufactured from fine grain GG22 – 25 Cast Iron (Thin walled from C45 steel)
• High machining tolerances provide maximum contact area for torque transmission
• Complete range of adaptors, bolt-on and weld-on hubs
