Oil seals are rotary shaft seals that close the gap between fixed and moving components and protect lubricants from escaping and thus from the stopping of contamination. Different kinds of oil seals in Dubai are made of various materials representing different functions and conditions. The correct material and type of oil seal must be defined for the application and the medium used for the oil seals.
Normally, an oil seal consists of three basic components: the sealing part, the spring, and the metal case. The objective of the sealing element is to prevent fluid leakage from the shaft. During keeping in the bore or recessed groove, the metal cases give the seal rigidity and strength. The spring boosts the effectiveness of the sealing feature. The selection of all materials depends on the operating environment of the oil seal.
Types of oil seals
The most widely used oil seals in Dubai are made of rubber or metal.
Metal Cased Oil Seals
When attached to a container borer made from the same material, oil seals are used with metal cases. This makes the contraction and expansion of the materials simpler during operation, preventing leakage. Metal-cased seals are usually more economical than rubber seals.
Rubber Cased Oil Seals
The most popular type of oil seal in Dubai used when a metal-case seal can fail is rubber-case oil seals. Unlike oil seals with metal cases, oil seals with a rubber case do not rust. In addition, oil seals with rubber cases can be much better seals than metal case oil seals with a slightly damaged housing. Faster expanding rubber can provide tightness and secure sealing at high temperatures and high pressures.
